Visit with the OAT villagers and see what Spring was like in the 19th century! While you’re here, grab a plate from Smokehouse BBQ and enjoy a picnic in the Living Block. Sit back and stay awhile for a special OAT Revue featuring Karren Pell, the OAT Revue Crue and many special guests including American Idol Finalist, Jess Meuse, and ASF Actor, Greta Lambert! It’s a Spring Fling Thing will showcase a variety of guests and talents including singing, songwriting and storytelling!

Come join the Montgomery Museum in its production of The Art of Baking Puppet Show. Children are engaged as they visit a bakery run by colorful animals from different parts of the world. The characters show children how it takes everyone working together to turn the bakery’s yummy treats into art. Children learn that the bakery’s cakes are created using color, shape, and line.The Art of Baking will be available to the public for three days in April 2016, and is geared for three to six year olds. The April shows are by reservation only and are free. Please contact Jill Byrd at 334.240.4359 for more information.

10:30-11 and 11-11:30 Tales for Tots at MMFA FREE
This FREE monthly program introduces preschoolers to art in the Museum through special stories, books, and simple craft activities in the galleries. Each session is limited to 25 participants.

Capitol Building, West front steps, 600 Dexter Ave, Montgomery
Evangelist Franklin Graham and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association are conducting prayer rallies in all 50 states this year, including Montgomery. The focus of these prayer rallies will be to challenge Christians to pray for the United States and its leaders, and to live and promote biblical principles at home, in public and at the ballot box. Decision America Tour will not endorse political candidates or legislation, and no candidates or current public officials will speak at any of the rallies. Free.


Saturday 4/16/16
On this day, we open the college for a day of fun and education for your entire family. Self-guided tours of the college, “teddy bear surgery,” a petting zoo, raptor show and exhibits by various student organizations are only the beginning of a fun-filled day.  Open House is a free event and no registration is necessary.  Make plans to join us in April.  For additional questions, please email ce@vetmed.auburn.edu.

10 am-Noon Camp Shakespeare Open House Free
Come see what summer theatre camps are all about at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival! Stop by Saturday, April 16 for games, crafts, costumes, and free backstage tours! Families can learn about our summer camp programs like Camp Shakespeare, Broadway South Musical Theatre camp, Behind the Curtain: Technical Theatre camp, and even Camp Shakespeare Junior.

Capitol City Master Gardeners Plant Sale FREE 
At Frazer UMC. Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about them. Plants for sale will include: heirloom plants,vegetables, herbs, annuals, perennials, ground covers, trees and shrubs. In addition, there will be a large assortment of garden items and potted arrangements for sale. Soil testing kits, key gardening indicators for successful plant growth, will also be available. Free gardening demonstrations and children’s activities held during the plant sale.

Plant Swap, Plant Care advice, Free Tshirts (first 50), Electronics Recycling 

9 am- 5 pm Alabama Book Festival FREE
With author readings, workshops, vendors and exhibitors, author signings, and a lively activity area for children (hosted by the MCCPL youth services librarians), this free public event is the state’s premier literary event. Thousands of people from around the state and the Southeast gather at the festival each year to meet their favorite authors and scholars. It’s a day of fun for book lovers of all ages!

Welcome spring by bringing the entire family to this FREE Museum program! Listen to Jazz Jams and create a fun “make and take” art project related to the exhibition A Shared Legacy: Folk Art in America. All materials are provided.

The tour will once again feature Wetumpka residents portraying many of Elmore County’s settlers, builders and most noted citizens such as John Kelly Fitzpatrick, Senator William Thomas, Sgt. George F. Sedberry and many others. Tickets are just $5.00 and will be available beginning Monday, February 22nd at the Elmore County Museum, Wetumpka Public Library and from just about any member of the Elmore County Historical Society!
