This Week's Christmas Event Round-Up 12/2-12/8

You guys!!!!! It's my most favorite time of the year!!!!! I LOVE Christmas time and I love Christmas celebrations!

This is a pretty big week around the River Region for Christmas events and I wanted to make sure that you don't miss any.

There are several events coming up that you need to register for ahead of time and those are noted in the descriptions. Don't wait too late to register or you might miss out.

My top picks for this week are the Old Alabama Town Christmas Open House, Free Santa Photos at Bass Pro and at Walmart, all the big Christmas parades on Friday and the Open House at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts!

There are several ongoing events:

12/3-12/8/13 An Eclectic Christmas- “The 2013 outdoor walking tours begin December 3-8 2013. Shows are reserved in 15 minute increments. When Registering please have a primary and secondary choice for date and time ready. We remind you that this is an outdoor night time walking tour. Admission is free, and donations are accepted and appreciated to help with expenses.”

Live Holiday Music, Pioneer crafts for children, cookies and cider on the fire, storytelling, costumed guests and more!

5 pm City of Prattville Tree Lighting and Winter Wonderland-City Hall
Christmas music by the Prattville Pops and local dance ensembles will perform, including a visit from the Sugar Plum Fairy. After the tree lighting visit Santa at Winter Wonderland in Heritage Park by the fountain downtown and enjoy Christmas carol by the community chorus. FREE


5:30 pm Millbrook Christmas Tree Lighting at Village Green


6 pm City of Wetumpka Tree Lighting Gold Star Park


6:30 pm Arrival of Saint Nicholas-Flowers Hall, 6:45 Caroling and lighting of the trees, 7:00 A Service of Lessons and Carols-Ligon Chapel FREE


7 pm- Capitol Sounds Christmas concert at Vaughn Forest Baptist Church, 8660 Vaughn Rd, Montgomery. Christmas music including a Holiday Sing-A-Long. FREE


Friday 12/6/13


10 am-6 pm Montgomery Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show. Alcazar Shriners 555 E. S. Blvd. Montgomery. FREE admission


1 pm-8 pm Interfaith Christmas Nativity Exhibit 3460 Carter Hill Road. FREE admission.


5:15 Governor’s Christmas Tree Lighting at the capital steps. Montgomery. FREE


6 pm Capital City Christmas Parade Parade route from capital steps to city hall. Montgomery. FREE RESCHEDULED
6:30-8 pm Wetumpka Nativity and Luminary Open House FREE Downtown Wetumpka


Parade begins at 7pm at the Autauga County courthouse. Floats, dancers, music and lots of candy! FREE RESCHEDULED


6:15 pm Montgomery Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Lister Hill Plaza across from city hall. FREE



Saturday 12/7/13
Bake yummy holiday cookies with the big guy himself for just $5. Must RSVP by Dec. 5 by calling 334-279-6046.


8:30 am Breakfast with Santa at Eastdale Mall
Purchase tickets in advance at Eastdale Mall Customer Service. $5 donation per ticket benefits Child Protect. Ticket includes breakfast with Santa from Cinnabon, cookie decorating with Great American Cookie Co. and holiday crafts with Teen Team and Child Protect Junior Executive Board.

9:30 am-12:30 pm Christmas Festival at Eastmont Baptist Church
Admission: One canned good. Christmas Train, Ponies, Breakfast with Angels, Manger Museum, Cotton Candy, Christmas Inflatables, Holiday Entertainment, Games and Prizes and more! 277-6300

10 am-Noon Children’s Christmas Art Project-Creative Arts Center Chestnut St. Prattville

Create holiday artwork to keep or give as a gift. Classes are free but space is limited and registration is required. Contact the Cultural Arts & Special Events Office at 334-595-0854


1 pm-4 pm Holiday Open House at Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts
Performances by local choral groups and festive studio activities. FREE, but guests are encouraged to bring a canned food donation for Montgomery Area Food Bank or a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots.


Parade begins at 2 pm at the sports complex and ends at the intersection at city hall. Arts, crafts, and food vendors will be set up at Village Green Park. Admission is FREE.


5:30-8:30 pm Living Nativity Drive Thru. East Memorial Baptist Church in Prattville. FREE


Sunday 12/8/13

10 am-2 pm Free Santa Photos at participating Walmart locations

11 am-5 pm Montgomery Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show. Alcazar Shriners 555 E. S. Blvd. Montgomery. FREE admission


1 pm-8 pm Interfaith Christmas Nativity Exhibit 3460 Carter Hill Road. FREE admission.

A holiday walking tour of 10 historic homes. Tickets are $10 for adults. Kids 12 and under Free. See the Facebook page for ticket locations.
