Free Medications at Publix

I wanted to share one of my favorite tips for saving money at the pharmacy.

I don't know how many of you knew this but Publix has certain medications that you can get for free with a prescription.

I have this list printed out and in my wallet so that if I take a sick kid (or myself ) to the doctor's office I will have it.

If the doctor says we need antibiotics, I pull the list out and ask if he can write the prescription for one of the medicines on the list.

There are several different antibiotics on the list:
  • Amoxicillin
  • Ampicillin
  • Cephalexin (capsules and suspension only)
  • Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim (SMZ-TMP)
  • Ciprofloxacin (excluding Ciprofloxacin XR)
  • Penicillin VK
  • Doxycycline Hyclate (capsules only)
There are also two other maintenance medications available for free: Metformin and Lisinopril.

It doesn't matter who your prescription insurance provider is or the number of prescriptions you need filled. There's no limit to the number of refills and no forms to fill out.

Lowe's Build & Grow Summer Program 2012

Starting in June, Build & Grow clinics will be on Saturdays and Sundays and will feature Dreamworks Animation Characters.

Each weekend is a different build. Saturday clinics will still begin at 10 am and Sunday clinics will begin at 2 pm. Registration opens at least a week before the build. The build is still FREE. Each child will build his own project and receive a free apron, goggles, patch, and more.

July 14 & 15: Kung Fu Panda Spinning Attack

July 28 & 29: Kung Fu Panda Stacking Friends

Habitat For Humanity Home Store-Montgomery

I realize that I am behind on this but I just recently had the chance to visit the Habitat For Humanity ReStore. The store is located at 2216 E South Blvd in Montgomery. I had been meaning to get over there since they opened and I just hadn't. However, Tuesday my husband stayed with the kids while I took a much needed break and, well, what else do you do when you need a break?  Go to thrift stores. (Maybe it's just me?)

I was surprised because I really thought that the ReStore was just for home renovation type things but I found out that they have everything a lot of things. It's really just like a thrift store that happens to have a bunch of home renovation items.

Sure, there is a lot of furniture and a lot of paint and appliances and also a lot of plumbing things that I have no idea what they are. But there is also a whole room of books and they start at a quarter each. (Joy!) They don't have clothes or toys, though. (Thank goodness.) There is even outside stuff out back but I was already hot and didn't venture out there.

My parents bought a new (used but in really great condition and not very old) stove there for just a little over $100 a few months ago when their stove inexplicably stopped working (I think it was old age.)

I must warn you. They must not have A/C at the ReStore because it's pretty hot in therr even with the fans randomly place throughout the store. My suggestion is to go early before it gets hot outside. They open at 9 am.

Something else that you don't find very often anymore- the people there were... friendly! I enjoyed looking around and making a mental note of what all I could find there if I should happen to need it.

You might want to make a visit and see if you could find anything there that you need or donate some unwanted items that you have around your house. The proceeds all go to support the efforts of Montgomery County Habitat For Humanity.

Organic Girl Salad 50 Cents!!! Through 5/21/12

Organic Girl Salad (5 oz.) is on sale at Winn Dixie this week two for $5!

Pair that with the $2.00 Organic Girl Salad coupon available on their Facebook Page and that makes it 50 cents each!

That is a sweet deal for organic salad!

This coupon expires 5/21/12 and is only a picture on their Facebook page so there is no print limit. However, I would use restraint and only use 2 or 3 at a time.

NOTE: The directions for printing say to right click the picture and select "print picture" BUT I printed it that way and the coupon prints small and didn't scan. (But Winn Dixie took it anyway. Wasn't that nice of them?) HOWEVER, I printed another one by clicking on download under the picture and then "save" and printed it full page and it scanned correctly. Just so you know. (Be warned: it's a big coupon!)

Who says you can't eat organic on a budget?

There are informative guest speakers, culinary demonstrations, educational programs and hands on children’s activities. You can tour the gardens in Old Alabama Town and visit vendors with an array of garden and herbal related merchandise and plants.
