River Region Weekend Activities

Saturday 12/10/11

10 am Lowes Build and Grow-FREE
Coal Car (Part 2 of 3 part Christmas Train)

10 am-Noon Michael's Passport To Imagination
Iceland-Reindeer Frame

10 am-8 pm Christmas On The Coosa-FREE
Annual Christmas Extravaganza with arts & crafts (10 am-6 pm), street parade (3 pm), food, concessions, handmade quilt show (9am-2pm), classic car show (10 am-1:30 pm), entertainment (children's entertainment at Goldstar Park 10 am-2 pm & Wetumpka Pops Band concert in Gold Star Park 4:30 pm) and activities on the Coosa river (Santa ski-in and boat parade beside Gold Star Park at 5:30 pm) culminating with a spectacular fireworks exhibition at dusk.
(9 am- 8 pm-Shuttle buses running between National Guard Armory, Food World Parking Lots and Downtown)

Iceland-Santa's Letter

6-9 pm Victorian Front Porch Walking Christmas Tour-Opelika FREE
Walking tour through the North Opelika Historic Neighborhood district, where families lavishly transform the front porches of their elegant Victorian homes into a magical Christmas wonderland of of Victorian Christmas scenes that include life-sized Santas, carousel horses and other figures. Area churches and businesses offer visitors hot chocolate and light refreshments on this night.

7pm My Favorite Christmas Card:A Musical Frazer UMC FREE
Experience the warmth, humor and inspiration of our favorite Christmas Cards "come to life" through stage and song as we celebrate God's Christmas Card to the whole world—the birth of Jesus Christ. Beautifully produced with 200+ voice choir, orchestra and original drama.
Admissions is free, no ticket required, and childcare ages 0-3 is provided.

5:30-7:30 pm Governor's Mansion Christmas Candlelight Tour & Open House FREE

Tickets are complimentary and can be picked up at the Mansion Gift Shop on 30 Finley Avenue in Montgomery. Tours are for the Hill House and for the Governor's Mansion and will be on December 12th and 19th from 5:30PM- 7:30PM.

Tuesday 12/13/11
7 pm Messiah Sing-a-long The New Church @ 301 Dexter (formerly Dexter Ave Methodist Church)
6th annual Messiah Sing-Along featuring the Montgomery Chorale led by Rebecca Barrineau Taylor and accompanied by members of the Montgomery Symphony . This free event is a wonderful way to begin your Christmas season and has become a tradition for many families and groups of singers or friends. A casual reception will be held following the event in the Fellowship Hall. The event will be from 7-8 p.m
