Why I love the local stores
Our local stores almost always have better produce and meat prices than the big chain stores. I don't know why, but I like it, because we buy a lot more produce than anything else nowdays.

Tip: Shop Oaktree early to catch marked down meat (close to the 'sell by' date) or produce. In the produce department, the bags are usually found in a buggy near the back of the aisle. The meat is usually mixed in with other meat, but with big red stickers that say something like "manager's special."

The produce is good for soups. When I find marked down peppers or celery, I cut the 'bad' parts off, chop it and freeze it to use in soups. The meat is good if you can prepare & freeze it or use it quickly.
