Autauga Creek Canoe Trail Clean Up 7/31/11

The Autauga Creek Canoe Trail is a four-mile canoe trail starting behind Stanley Jensen Stadium in Prattville. It has been neglected for some time. Until a group of citizens decided to do something about it. This clean up effort has been and continues to be driven by citizen participation.  Citizens will break into 6 groups, each taking a section of the Autauga Creek, and 2 groups each taking a section on the banks, for a massive clean up effort on July 31st.

There will be two clean up sessions that day; one at 8 am, and the second at 1 pm.  Meet at the American Legion on Doster Road.

Clean up workers will need to wear old shoes and be prepared to get wet and muddy.  For those volunteers who prefer, there is also plenty of work that needs to be done in two areas on the banks.

Items to bring, if you have them, include:  chain saws, canoe/kayak/john boats, rope, gloves, weed eater, and branch cutter/pruning sheers.

If you're interested in getting involved or need more information, please contact Iris Korthauer at or 361-9302.
