FREE Library Happenings The Week 6/13-6/17/11

I always try to do a weekend round up but there is so much going on during the week, since it's summer, that I might have to start doing a week roundup.

Today (6/13/11) at 3:30 pm the Pike Road Branch Library will have a special guest from Thailand as part of their summer reading program.

June 14th at the Governor's Square Branch Libary the preschool storytime (10am) will be "The State Flag of Alabama" followed by a fun craft with representatives from the Museum of Archives and History.

June 14th at 5:30 pm at Hampstead Branch Library Mr Michael Jacks and his group will share a brief history of Capeira, a combination of marshal arts and dance from the Brazilian culture, followed by a video clip and demonstration. The craft will be a Brazilian Wish Bracelet. (K-5th grade)

June 15th at 10 am at EL Lowder Regional Branch, kids will have an opportunity to paint with Susan Parker.

June 15th at 10:30 am, Hampstead Branch Library will have a storytime for kids ages 3 and under, featuring the stories Oh, Daddy and Grizzly Dad. They will make an "I Love You To Pieces Card."

June 15th at 1pm in the auditorium of the Morgan Memorial Library, Mr JD Trimble will present a story from Africa about Anansi the Spider followed by a craft as part of the summer reading program. (K-5th grade)

June 16th at Governor's Square Branch the Museum of Archives and History will present the story of "Juneteenth" and how it is observed for the K-5th grade group at 10 am.

June 16th at 10 am at Coliseum Branch the preschool story time is about music and bears.

June 16 at Morgan Memorial Library during the preschool storytime (10:30 am) will learn some Zumba dances from Ms. Maya, listen to some international stories and make a craft.

June 16th at 3:30 pm the Coliseum Branch library is showing the movie  Never Say Never about Justin Bieber.

June 17th at 10 am the Coliseum Branch will have Mary Hughes and her pet puppets there to learn about pet care and proper treatment as part of the summer reading program for grades K-5th.

June 17th 10:15 am at EL Lowder Branch, preschool storytime will feature The Ugly Duckling followed by a craft.
