2011 Summer Reading Program at Juliette Hampton Morgan Library

 
The theme for the summer reading program at Juliette Hampton Morgan Library is “One World, Many Stories.”
This free reading program for grades K-5th, kicks off on June 9th at 10:30 a.m. with a visit from Big Mo and a Biscuits baseball player reading an American classic, Casey at Bat. There will be time for photos, autographs, and a baseball treat. 
 
After that there will be a program every week on Wednesday at 1 pm in the auditorium. 
 
June 15th- Trickster Tales
Mr. J.D. Trimble will be sharing trickster tales from Africa about Anansi the Spider and kids will make a craft. 
 
June 22nd- Blue Bell Ice Cream and Art Project: World Stories Chairs
Kids will learn how ice cream is made then they will listen to stories from around the world and pick some to cover the chairs with this year. 
 
June 29th- Australia 
Andy the Armadillo from Texas Road House Grill will visit. Kids will hear stories about armadillos and the outback. (Even though Australia only has armadillos in zoo, Texas has a lot of them.) There will be time for pictures and a craft. 
 
July 6th- Ireland
Mr. Terry Phillips will share stories of leprechauns and fairies from the green island of Ireland. Then there will be a craft. 
 
July 13th-Germany (Turn in your reading logs!)
Jonathan Conner will bring to life stories from the Brothers Grimm from Germany. Kids will make a craft. 
 
July 20th- If you turned in your reading logs, come pick your reward for reading 5, 10 or 15 or more books. 

The program will conclude with International Fun Day on Friday July 22, 2011 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
More information to come, but the day will include fun, games, food, face paint, henna tattoos and more!
