Plant It! Montgomery Celebration 4/16

The 16th annual Plant It! Montgomery Celebration will be Saturday, April 16, 2011 beginning at 9 a.m. in Oak Park. There will be rain barrel, tree planting and compost demonstrations. The Parks and Recreation Department will be giving away crepe myrtles, rose bushes, bedding plants, herbs, and soil, while they last. The children can come and enjoy fun nature crafts, special giveaways and “Maggie Magnolia,” the Talking tree, will make a special appearance.

The festival combines the traditional Arbor Day celebration with Earth Day to promote conservation and recycling. The Montgomery Clean City Commission, Master Gardeners Association, Herb Society and Federation of Garden Clubs will have educations booths.

Note: This is the same day at the Alabama Book Festival, so we might go to this and then the Book Festival because the Book Festival starts at 10 a.m. Big day! Lots of fun and freebies!
